Meanwhile...

This is another digital piece that I'm going to get printed to canvas and then work over the top with some acrylics and varnish.

Latest Painting

Just put the finishing touches on my latest RvB piece. This is my largest canvas so far (762mm x 1016mm). Actually think I preferred working on the larger scale - gives you a bit more freedom.

RvB Development hits full steam

Have some big development plans in the works for RvB, including a fully fleshed out world, story and cast of characters.
I feel like I'm really starting to find the focus for this project that it deserves. Putting a couple of the characters to canvas has really spurred me in to action.
Here's some development sketches I've been scribbling down lately - some of which you will notice have been turned in to paintings. You might even notice a new character - Ninja Kitti.

Stay tuned as more stuff is in the works. Have a couple of paintings in progress and a few other projects on the go for RvB.
Have also updated the branding on my RvB blog and will hopefully giving a little bit more focus to it in the upcoming months.

Sketchoholic.com contest entry

Raced together a quick entry for the Humberto Ramos Fairy Quest contest on sketchoholic.com.

Was a bit of a rush as i had very little time on this last nite. Definitely going to make an effort to find these contests a bit earlier.

Quick scribble

Wanted to draw something but didn't know what so i sorta made this up as i go. I find it kind of liberating to work in this sort of quick loose style.
Have included a few of the stages.

Did this illustration of my work mate, Sue's dog, Winston. Winston has got himself in a bit of trouble and needed to send someone an apology card. I did this image for the front of the card.

More Puppy Mayhem

Was thinking to myslef this morning how funny it is to see an owner chasing their dog that has got off the leash and is chasing something. Take that amusing situation and place it in the low gravity of the moon and we have our very frustrating astronaut calling out in the vacuum of space as he pursues (in low gravity bouncing slow mo) his moon rover. :)

Well, its the day after and I must say I'm feeling pretty good. It was a great birthday and i'm feeling pretty good about things. So its back to reality and back to chasing the ball!

Watched the cricket last nite, so I sat there with a ball point pen and sketchpad in hand whilst I watched. I actually find i'm quite productive during the cricket. Maybe we should have the cricket on tv at work! :)

Urrggghhh! we have just suffered through a massive heatwave her in melbourne, end of last week and over the weekend. 3 nights in a row with no power either. No more of that thanks!!

Did this sketch last nite with the air con finally on, and watched a dismal performance from Australia in the cricket as they went down to the kiwis in very low scoring game.

Other than experimentiing with some new brushes, i'm not sure what I was thinking here.

Something different to my usual approach. I normally seem to always put full characters into my illustrations which i think sometimes means that i lose the opportunity to really get a feel for the personality or emotion of the character.Hence i figured i'd try something differnt and zoom right in on the face.

Wanted to do my own homage to the great battles that spiderman fought with venom through my childhood induction to comic books.Wanted a real sensation of chaos and fury, with spittle and rubble whirling about the combatants. The agility of spidy and the freight train fury of venom.

Trying to make an effort this year to try and churn out one piece a day. Really want to try and devlop this loose style and see where I can take it.

Feels good to be back into the swing of things for 09. Made a resolve to do more energised pics this year with a looser feel to the linework and more sense of movement.Working completely in photoshop.

A new year begins

Hope everyone had a great christmas and new year break!

After a nice long break i'm back at work and back in action.

Thought i'd start my first personal sketch of the year off with something nice and loose. Feel so refreshed after spending a few weeks not drawing at all and having minimal interatcion with a computer. Here's hoping 2009 is a great year!
